Hi Jay,
I wanted to let you know that we DID have a wonderful time in Egypt and Israel and Petra. Our fight back to Tel Aviv from Cairo was cancelled, and we did not find out about it until we were checking in through security at the airport at 6:30 am. Our handler from the agency, Noor, did a great job, however, of taking charge and getting us a day room at the older side of the Fairmont. We were delayed about 12 hours in total, and had to fly through Amman, which felt uncomfortable to me but interesting to my husband. We arrived at the Dead Sea, our next stop at 1am, but it all worked out.
Your agency in Egypt was top rate. We particularly enjoyed our guide in Cairo, Banal, who was highly educated, worldly and experienced. The only issue we had was that we didn't stop for lunch. We knew it was Ramadan, and so we asked the second day to stop to eat, and Banal tried to arrange it, but we got caught in a horrible traffic jam and didn't end up stopping and the agency got a little undone about the whole thing and were in fear that we would miss out flight to Luxor.
Perhaps you could suggest a box lunch to your agency during Ramadan, so tourists can eat, but avoid the difficulties finding available food.
Our trip was terrific, and Egypt was a highlight.
Best regards, Barbara
